Residue is an internal VTOPYA study on beauty textures: the swatches, smears and pigments that carry so much of a make-up brand's identity, from campaign visuals to packaging.

Texture is one of the hardest things to get right in beauty imagery. It has to read as a specific formula, with the right finish, density and behaviour in light, not as a generic smudge. In this study we used AI to work towards that level of precision, refining each texture until it reflected how the product actually looks on skin and under studio light.

The series has become a reference for our beauty work, showing how texture can be directed and controlled with the same care as a physical swatch shoot.
